getting started - how the mural process flows
initial contact
To get the process started, we can schedule a consultation meeting in person, on the phone or via email to discuss details including size, subject matter, colors, surface and location. From the information we discuss, an estimate of cost and timing will be drawn up and emailed to you. If the price and timing are agreeable we can begin with the design.
design deposit
A deposit for the design will initiate the next step and get you on the painting schedule. The figure averages between $250 and $400 depending on the size and complexity of the mural. This amount is in addition to the cost determined by square footage.
design process
Next we can meet in person if you are nearby or you can share notes, photos and samples of other art work that inspires you via email. Over the next week, a couple of refined sketches will be sent via email for your input. Within the next few days you will receive a design, colored and further refined on the computer. If it meets your approval, we are ready to paint! If not, we can easily add, subtract or retool anything that's not quite working.
mural deposit
50% of the total fee is due on the first day of onsite painting.
painting
The time estimate for painting the mural is based on past projects including a little extra time for unforeseen circumstances. Depending on the location, the painting can either happen during the day, typically 8 hours, or an after hours schedule can be negotiated if the location is a business and its not conducive to your work environment. You are welcome to observe and encouraged to give feedback along the way. Just keep in mind that the process is rewarding to witness and doesn't always reveal the magic before completion.
final payment
Upon completion of the mural and your satisfaction with the finished painting, you will receive an invoice for the full remaining balance which is due upon receipt.
pricing
Pricing for murals varies depending on the size, degree of detail and condition of wall surface and accessibility to the surface.
Below are general guidelines by size of the painted area to be covered:
Below 50 square feet - $35 to $55 per square foot depending on complexity of the design
50 square feet to 100 square feet - $25-$40 per square foot
100 square feet to 250 square feet - $20-$35 per square foot
250 square feet and above are $15-$25 per square foot
Pricing for murals under 16 square feet will be negotiated on an individual basis,
All jobs must total at least $500
These prices are in addition to the agreed upon design cost and are negotiable.
